LEPILIST UPDATEPROGRAM UPDATEMarch 1, 2007 update The Microsoft Windows operating system, named Windows Vista, was issued on January 30, 2007. To ensure compatibility of LepiList with Windows Vista and subsequent versions of Windows, yet retain compatibility with all earlier versions of Windows back to Windows 95, we have had to change the method the program uses in manipulating a computer's fast memory (its RAM) to a more efficient one. This was a major rewrite, as can be seen from the increase in length of the LepiList program file (its .EXE file) which went from 621 kbytes to 857 kbytes. The update allows LepiList to be used with the Pocket PC Add-On. It also contains a number of improvements that have been made in the program since the Windows version first became available, such as more convenient use of a short list. And it can now accomodate more than 20000 species and subspecies. People who have a copy of LepiList which we shipped after January 1, 2006 can download at no charge the new March 1, 2007 Windows Vista and 7 compatible issue of the program by following instructions in the How to Download the Update section below. However, the free download will not run on your computer if your copy of LepiList was shipped before January 1, 2006. If you are not sure when your copy of LepiList was shipped use Windows to display the date of the file named INSTALL.EXE that is on your LepiList CD ROM; it must have a date of January 1, 2006 or later. If you cannot use the free download to obtain the March 1, 2007 program update it is available on an inexpensive CD ROM; see the Prices and Ordering page. Do not use the free download if your copy of LepiList was shipped before January 1, 2006. If you do you will overwrite the program you now have with a LepiList program that will not operate on your computer. If you are not sure when your copy of LepiList was shipped use Windows to display the date of the file named INSTALL.EXE that is on your LepiList CD ROM; it must have a date of January 1, 2006 or later.
